Testimonials The best way to get an idea if a game is for you is to talk to other players. Best place to do this is on our mailing list. some of the following were sent dircetly to us, some were posted on Pagga. We are happy to add your comments here and will not edit them, even if they are negative. So here are what a few FR players have said about it: Having played three of the events organised by the Frail Realities crew I would give a hearty thumbs up for anyone wanting to try something a little bit 'out of sync' with the majority of LRP in the UK. The FR referee team have managed to successfully combine the action and pace of linear adventures with the sense of empowerment and achievement of player directed adventures. The events so far have been intensively prop driven, and for me at least there is a refreshing change playing in an environment where Sharpe meets the Sandman. I've done a bit of LRP in my time, and this is really holding my attention, I can only recommend trying it - either as players or as crew.

Just to echo Jans sentiments as an FR "Veteran" ,having played 3 events as well and crewed a couple , FR really is a breath of fresh air. Excellent plots ,enthusiastic crew , enough Character variety to provide for pretty much all tastes . Combat looks good but the game system isn't combat obsessed so theres lots for both skilled sword swingers and for those , like me , who tend to trip over the pointy bit to do. Crewing is real fun as well and can usually be picked up in about 10 minutes of talk through . Its well worth giving a go. Hope to see you on an FR event in the near future

Played one event so far, in highly exciting inches of snow and through howling blizzard conditions, luckily with a heated building and full kitchen available for recovery purposes it did bring a sense of urgency to helping people who'd fallen unconscious (and were being slowly buried in settling snow) though! It was great fun and I'll definitely be going again - was a nice mix of competent players and crew from a variety of different systems too. The system is much less restrictive than it might first sound for character choice, the 'fractured realities' idea allows for people playing almost any concept and making it fit just fine, I was pleasantly surprised (initially the idea of a Napoleonic LRP didn't really appeal, but it just wasn't like that - though the French are the enemy!). Bruno Murray We had reservations before we attended the event - the rules were a bit intimidating (mainly cos they're so long, although its better now they're split into books), and we had absolutely no idea what to expect. Also we were worried about the standard of costume and props that were expected. But actually the system was really easy to pick up and everyone was really friendly. I think the setting and style of the system will be enough to encourage other newbies to try it despite the scary rules, and once they've attended an event hopefully they'll be hooked. Anyway, we had a fantastic time, the setting is great and its been ages since we've played an adventure based LRP. Will there be a follow-up event to TLM?Rachel (and Grayson) Very fresh and completely different from your usual LRP system. Dynamic plots and carefully crafted adventures add together to suck you in from start to finish. The rules are simply to learn but have enough depth and variety to mean you never end up with the same character as anyone else. My favorite thing about the system is that it has enough combat to satisfy my need for battle but overall RP is held in the highest regard. An excellent weekend out!David FisherLRPer for 16 years.David Fisher Frail Realities is an amazing and unique role-play experience, totally immersive, with endless possibilities and a fantastic crew. I must confess I was daunted by the costs (coming from an LT background) and the rules take a bit of getting your head round. But in practice, once you're out there, it all comes together and it is SO worth while. There are great fights but it's the role-play and interaction that are the key. What immediately won our interest to try it out was the
fabulous setting, with the limitless historical possibilities and settings,
allowing for a wealth of character creation and fun. Look out for
the introductory games, try one and you'll be hooked - Paul and Charlie, Bears Faction (LT) and Stormhaven LARPS. |
